Can I find a code scanner for a 1994 BMW 325I?

Scanners are so very expensive, I have a snap on scanner and you would shudder at the price, i do scans for customers all the time and charge a flat rate for the service. I would ring around any large independent workshop and ask if they can do a scan for you, i charge $50. for a scan but remember that this is a $25,000 investment so be prepared to pay for the privilege.

inexpensive code scanners can be purchased at parts supply houses. Pep boys or kragen or whatever regional parts supplier is in your community or on the internet. depending on the mileage of the car, my guess is the oxygen sensor may be the cause and a scanner will tell you for sure.

Here in Aust i don't think that i have ever seen a cheap scanner for sale in a auto spare parts shop ( not including the provisional range) so if you can get generic cheap scanners over there, that's what i would be doing as well, but make sure that it will read all the codes systems that you need.

Thank you for your messages, the problem I am having is finding a scanner for the year of my car. For whatever reason most scanners I have inquired on the internet or at NAPA do not apply to models later than 1996. And you are right about the O2 Sensor I have replaced it but I continue to get fouling in the exhaust causing a similar emissions problem to exist which is why I am so reluctant to continue to pay a mechanic for this information but your probably right, thats the next step.
