Help Please… 1993 BMW 325 with 139457 miles, Manual Transmission.
Clutch and assy were changed out about 2 weeks ago. All was well.. But now the car will not go into gear until I turn the ignition on and off several times, before it will engage.
Oh when the car is off, the stick freely flows / goes into any gear without a hassle, but once the engine is on… Forget about it…
I know that automatic have a neutral switch. Do manual trans have one also? What should I check for?
Oh and the problem didn’t start until I turned on the AC… I am confident that this has nothing to do with it, but I am not the expert.
UPDATE: Dr. H. I will have to verify this with the mech who installed it, but the car will operate correctly once in a while... Could this be a sensor? When the vehicle is off, I can go into any gear. If I leave it in gear and turn on the car... it will stay in this gear...
