2006 BMW 325i headlight question, can I switch the Xenon?

I'm wondering if I can simply swap out the halogen bulbs in my car for xenon ones. I don't want to use the BMW Angel Eyes kit due to the cost. Is this even possible? What type of bulbs would I need to get? Any information would be greatly appreciated! :)
