Lately,

When I start my car, the yellow oil indicator comes on for 10-25 seconds. It then goes dark and does not reappear until the next time I start the engine.

What gives?

I had the same problem. You need to replace the oil level sensor that is located in the bottom of the oil pan. Change out the sensor at your next oil change.
