When I first start my car, (cold morning) and proceed to drive, if I push the accelerator pedal too hard, the rpm's just go up but the car won't go forward, almost as if I'm in neutral and rev the car. I have to drive the car gingerly until the engine oil heats up to about 180 according to my gauge and then the car drives normally. I can put the pedal to the metal and you would never know anything was wrong with the car. The clutch does not slip and the clutch engagement is still normal. Can you help me diagnose what the problem is?

This could be a clutch hydraulic issue or the clutch will require replacement. These cars use a self adjusting clutch and a dual mass flywheel and it is a problematic arrangement. I would start with inspecting the clutch hydraulics, remove the slave and inspect for ANY leakage, and see if the clutch master is nominal as well. Keep in touch and let me know what you choose to do.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. As far as the Self Adjusting Mechanism, I have removed it with a clutch delay valve. The flywheel was also replaced with aftermarket as well as the clutch. I forgot to mention that the car was parked on a decline for a couple weeks while I was away and left outside by my dear folks, which when I came back, the clutch started misbehaving. The car was only started a couple of times but kept stationary. Another question is why does the clutch operate normally once the car heats up?

Thanks for the inputs and happy holidays!

The fact that you have installed non-original equipment parts makes it very difficult to give accurate information. Who manufactured the flywheel? Who supplied the clutch? Who installed it?
