The car starts fine with a cold start and performs as normal.

However after driving some distance and turning off the engine the car performs erratically upon startup.

It does not rev as freely and feels sluggish when reving. Most times the throttle is required to prevent it from stalling.

When driving it is noticeably sluggish and does not rev as freely. After a few miles of driving the problem seems to resolve it's self.

Any ideas?

No there is no check engine light or engine management light. It has not been evident before or after the problem developed.

The oil light (orange) appears for a second or two when starting the car but disappears.

The coolant light (orange) for a few seconds almost every journey. It seems to be at random times. Temperature reading according to the gauge never rises about the mid point (ie. normal).

There may be a bulletin for reprogramming the EGS module for that car and it may not have been performed yet, BMW will have the history in their dealer communication system if the EGS module was reflashed under warranty. EGS is the transmission control module. It could also be some other software update. The car could simply have "slipped through the cracks" especially if the car has changed hands from the original purchaser. Some driveability issues have been software related, this might be one of them.
