1997 BMW 325 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Dear representative,

We had our BMW in storage and during that time, the battery went dead. I replaced it and when I tried to re-connect the battery cables, the alarm system starts ringing. I believe this is a factory system.

I've tried to open the driver side door with the key while the alarm is activated but that didn't seem to de-activate the alarm.

Any ideas on how I can connect my battery cables without the alarm instantly getting activated?

I've called the local BMW shop and they want $180.00 just to plug in the diagnostic equipment, not including any parts.

HELP...

The stock BMW alarm is located under the glove box, in the kick panel below the `box. Locate it and disconnect it. Then it might reinitialize.

Thanks for the tip.

I did locate (2) modules, the first module (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) had a blue color wire connector plug. The second (which was higher up towards the top of the dash) had a yellow connector. both connectors contained about 20 wires.

The problem with both is that I wasn't able to slide either of the modules out of their cradle nor dis-engage the connector wire cable. The space to work with is very limited.

Any other suggestions? Could I disconnect the horn from inside the engine compartment?

I now have a new battery installed but every time I try to connect the battery cables, the alarm starts to sound.
