1995 BMW 325 Head Gasket

The head can be removed in situ, but there is a special tool required to locate the cams in there correct position and a special clip to lock in the timing chain tensioner, with the head removed it would be a good idea to have it crack tested, checked for warp and bend, and get it surfaced. make sure that the block is spotless with all traces of old gasket removed. If you intend to do this i would advise you to get a manual and have a good read before you start that way you will be aware of what tooling is required and the correct method of removal and all the torque setting and valve timing requirements.

Mark, thank you very much for your quick response. I do intend to get a manual if I do this job. A friend told me that the engine had to come out or lifted in order to remove the head. It sounds like that is not true.

I did want to ask what situ means? You indicate that the head can be removed in situ. Please let me know.
