Computer problem
1993 BMW 325 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 116xxx miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hey, my BMW has a tachometer that will not register correct RPS's. it is as if it gets stuck and then when I reach a higher RPM level it jumps to it. If I am going at 2000 rpms, it will show 1000 rpms until 5000 rpms where it will jump to ad stay there till i come back down to 200 rpms.

It might be a stuck spedo cable and need penetrating oil or replacement?

There is no cable, it is all electronic. It may be a mechanical issue or it may be the cluster will need replacement.

oooh, I am used to working on much older cars, so the electronic tach would make things a bit more complicated.

Look in the Yellow pages for a local speedo/tach shop before you sacrifice your $$$ at the dealer.

Look in the Yellow pages for a local speedo/tach shop before you sacrifice your $$$ at the dealer. Or call 619-444-2290 and talk to John and\or Sean @ Autobahn Dismantling.
