1993 BMW 325 stock stereo

My stock stereo on my 1993 325I fades out. When turned on, but a few minutes the sound fades out. When I turn it off and than on it starts up. I'm not sure if I should unplug the battery to reboot the system. I was told that if you do that you would need the reset code fo the stereo.

Please help!
