1989 BMW325ix AWD 270K Strong Vibration at 50mph

You might be able to help us both out, Can you tell me what a Guibo is? What kind of noise is it, a bearing whine? Thumping?....Generelly if it smoothes out, something's out of balance

Hey Merlin, i'm sure he's talking abt the flex disc. It's also sometimes called a guibo.

Rikj14, you might want to get all your wheels balanced before you proceed with further diagnosis.

Hey Merlin, sorry dude...i did not see the date on your post. Anyways, i hate to hijack threads but since we are on the topic of vibrations, i'm working on a 99 gmc yukon 1500 2wd. I'm having the same problem. Vibrations start in between 45 to 65. The whole front end shakes bad. If you are familiar with the famous "death wobble" on Jeeps. The vibrations are similar. It has new idler & pitman arms, outer & inner tie rods. New shocks in front. Steering gear box feels tight (no play). No play on the u-joints. I'm lost dude. It's driving me nuts. It may be that the driveshaft is out of balance. I don't know. If i don't come up with anything else, i'll send it out to a drive line shop to get it balanced. Any ideas?

Thanks everyone I had it repaired and the fix was to have the Drive shaft rebuilt with new U-joints and balanced. Now it is smooth as glass and ALOT quieter.

Have a look at the ball joints and tires, what is the mileage on it? Upper u-joints will give the shakes....
