1988 BMW 325 testing fuel pump

Yes Harley diver, there is. Spray some carb cleaner, brake cleaner, or something that can promote combustion, into the intake tract. If it starts and runs for a moment, then the fuel pump is dead or the fuse is blown. I would recommend replacement of the pump just as a matter of preventive maintenance as well as the main and fuel pump relays. An `88 325 will have one pump, and it is inside the fuel tank. Take the rear seat base up(it just clips into place so a sharp pull up will get it loose) and the pump lives on the right side of the tank. If you expose the top of the tank, try getting a mallet and tap on the top of the fuel pump assembly, that will sometimes "shock" the pump back to life for another key cycle. Have someone crank it over while you tap, it may well start, then replace the pump and the fuel pump o-ring, the relays and then you're good.
