1986 BMW 325 FUEL SYSTEM

I have replaced my fuel pump, fuel regulator, no code on system. My car will do a cold start and then just die. As if not getting any fuel to the system.
I went from the tank to the fuel filter then to the fuel regulator. If I place starting spray in too the injectors car runs till the spray runs out. So the injectors are working. so from the fuel regulator to the throtle body, i lose something to keep the car running. Fuel get to the cold start and runs then just dies. Sherlock Holmes at your service. The clue that your engine starts and then dies, tells me that your fuel pressure is most likely good because your cold start injector is operating. The clue that your engine runs with starting fluid tells me that your crank sensor is good and it is telling the engine computer to fire your ignition. This lets me conclude that the driver circuits of your engine computer are not working, and that the control signals to your main injectors are absent. You can verify this by listening to the clicking of your main injectors with a stethoscope, except that what you will hear is no clicking. Listen to a running car if you want to know what the clicking should sound like.

If the injectors are, in deed, not clicking, then either your driver circuits in the engine computer are burnt out, the connecting wires are corroded, or the grounding strap was left unconnected (possibly when you changed the fuel regulator .... I think I remember that the strap connects near the front of the engine close to the fuel regulator).
