My rear-wheel drive BMW makes "squeaking" noise that's coming from the rear, especially when I accelerate and decelerate between the 1st and 2nd gear. At first we thought that the noise problem could be because of the brakes so both front and rear brakes have been changed. My tires needed changing, too so all 4 tires now new. Some mechanic thought it may be just a matter of tightening the pulley and belt...but none of these made the squeaking noise go away. It's not a very loud noise so the the cause of the problem isn't so easy to locate, but I'm certain that it is coming from the rear. What could be the problem?

Possibly the noise is from the spring perch. When did this start? Have the shock mounts been inspected?
