OVER REVING

I OWN A BMW320I AUTO 1993 MODEL.WHILST DRIVING UPHILL ON DRIVE GEAR THE ENGINE SEEMS TO OVERREV AND THE CAR GETS STUCK IN GEAR.IT ONLY CHANGES BACK TO NORMAL WHEN I SWITCH OFF AND RESTART THE CAR.PLEASE HELP!

lets check the trans fluid level, and check the condition of the fluid. A transmission control seliond can cause this problem, also. You can try servicing the tranmission and see if that helps. If not you might be in the tank for a rebuilt trans.
