1991 BMW 320 seized handbrake

The car has not been used for a couple of months and the handbrake has seized. What is the procedure for releasing the hand brake- presume removal of rear wheels but would you be able to give clear insteructions as to what to do after this?
In anticipation of some help for a stranded female-thanks!

This could be a difficult repair, even for me! A stuck hand brake might be a broken spring or rusted cables and the discs need to come off to inspect for the extent of the possible corrosion damage. Maybe a few raps with a big hammer on the disc will loosen things up enough to allow the discs to be removed, at any rate, you will need to get the discs off, do what you can and let us know what you figure out.
