1997 BMW 318 valves

i let a machanic that work on chevys help adjust my timing chain we looked at where it was set and agreed it was 1 tooth off but when he moved it he moved it 4 teeth i dont know why when i went to start it i think it hit valves becouse now it has no copression in any cylinder what do u think.
