1. Make and Model of your car
1994 BMW 318i
2. Current odometer reading (approx)
230,000
3. Stick Shift or Automatic Transmission
Auto
Car lost all power. Starts after some effort, then idles rough at about 400- 500 rpms. Will run and go uphill at about 5 mph, downhill at about 20... running rough the whole time and I have to "pump" the accelerator pedal continuously to get the above results.
Fuel pump is ok, and fuel comes out of fuel filter fine. Did not put pressure gauge on them but it is pumping hard, plus the pump and filter are about 1 year old. Spark plugs are firing. I also tried an ECM computer and it did not help.
A mechanic told me excess oil on the spark plugs, caused by bad gasket could cause a short... so I have replaced the valve cover gasket set. Didn't help.
I am thinking it could be fuel injectors. Does this sound like injectors to you?
Also, is there a way for me to test the injectors (while in the car preferably) to see if this is the problem? I do not want to replace them only to find it did not fix the problem.
Thanks for any help...
