1993 BMW 318 4 cyl

I have a problem,I had head rebuilt due to bent valves,so far I have bought 3 manuals and none cover my engine,single o head cam belt drive,I need to know the torque settings for the head bolts and the correct position of the cam gear,only have mark on gear and none on the block,I dont want anymore bent valves

1993 318 with an M-40 motor? What is the last seven of the vin?

FB66452 makes it an M40 motor. There aren't any timing marks, which could be the reason for your confusion. The number one cylinder is held at top dead center with a pin through the block into the flywheel, tool number 11 2 300
The camshaft is held in the correct position With tool number 11 3 190 The tension is adjust by means of the special tool 11 2 080. When you torque the head bolts, start with clean threaded holes in the block, use new bolts, torque the first step to 30NM, proceed with angle torque of degrees, and then another angle torque of 90 degrees.
Having said all that, it is still an inline four, lets start with #1 at TDC, camshaft in the cam lobes down, ready to fire #1 position, install the cam belt and tension it, recheck the settings. Turn the motor over by hand to see if there is any interference before you try to start it.
