my car is sluggish when taking off in first and second gear and its fine in fourth and fifth gear.. there is also a smell of petrol inside it when parked for a while..

I would find out why there is an aroma of fuel, it is a safety issue and it is hazardous to have an unchecked fuel leak, find it ASAP.
