blowing blinker fuse

First, I had my left side blinker blinking faster than the right (and all blinkers were lighting up) then it started blowing fuses as soon as I turn either blinker on. I disconnected the trailer harness to eliminate that possibility. Same problem.

Were any bulbs changed recently? If the wrong bulb was installed, it will do this.

Do all the other bulbs work as commanded?

Do you have a test light or volt meter to do some checks?

I do have a voltmeter. No bulbs recently changed.

yes, brakes and taillights seem to be fine.

I attached a picture for you. The connector I circled, please disconnect it and see if the fuse still fails.

The connector is at the bottom of the steering column.

okay, this is weird, but may help. I removed all bulbs. I ran out of 7.5 amp fuses so put a 20 in (I know, not for long) with all bulbs out, when I turn on either right or left I get a squealing noise from the dash.

Okay, remove it. By doing that, you are overheating the circuit and can cause wiring harness melt down.

You never, ever install a larger fuse than required as you can cause more issues.

Well, I only had it in for a second . Just long enough to hear that noise. What do you think that buzzing was coming from? I have heard it buzz in the past from time to time, but it always went away.

Sounds like it could be a short in the harness.

Another suggestion. I would go to a part store and get a self resetting circuit breaker of the correct amperage so you do not have keep replacing fuse to determine the issue.
