Blower Motor Resistor Location

You may want to take it in to a professional for that repair. The repair instruction has you roll the dash back (pivot back) and the resistor sits on top of the climate box.

Is rolling the dash back different than just taking it off? I can take that off and access the climate box. Are there any videos or step by steps you can send me? I cannot find anything that states the blower motor resistor is found on top of the climate box. Any idea why all the videos show it somewhere else?

I guess something else to make sure I am on the right track anyway. The blower was intermittent. You just never knew when it might actually blow. When it did work, all speeds were okay and the temperature was fine. It recently seems to have stopped all together.

Your problem does not sound like a resister anyway. They do not usually come and go. That sounds more like a bad blower motor or overheated connection going to it.

That is correct. When the resistor is faulty you will still have the high speed operating for the fan. The relay could be going bad or as WRENCHTECH stated blower motor could be going bad as well or burnt connector. Either way any of those parts to access, the dash has to be pulled back. If you believe the resistor is faulty here is a YouTube link on how this one person did it by removing the glove box but it is going to be tight.

Okay thanks, sorry to be a pain, but I want to make sure I have the right parts. For the resistor, according to the year make model should be a DR775 (Duralast), but that is not the part being pulled out of the dash. I just want to make sure if I look at the relay or motor that I am looking at the right thing.

We do not have access to parts numbers like the one you posted since Duralast is an Autozone part number. You would need to call the dealer to get the part number and have Autozone cross reference that number. On my side for the vehicle you have posted OE number comes as 15039098.

It would be much easier to profile the vehicle by VIN number but that is the information I have for a 2000 Chevy K1500 Tahoe with a 5.7L engine and part comes up as the picture shown below. Also I believe it makes a difference if you have A/C or no A/C.

OK back again. The blower worked this morning at ALL speeds and blows hot air. I also do have AC. Looking for suggestions on what may be the problem. Also since I have confusion on which parts to buy, my vehicle VIN is 1GNEK13R1YR140654. I guess I'll return the resistor I bought since it is not the right one and probably not the problem.

The vin you gave me shows the resistor is correct. GM part# 15039098. So the dash needs to be pulled back to look at the connectors and check the blower relay.
