Blower motor not working

It sounds like the blower motor or relay is not working.

Engine Cooling problem
2000 Chevy Cavalier four cylinder front wheel drive automatic 140,000 miles.

The radiator fan never kicks on even when the A/C is on max. The car never shows it is overheating. temperature is always around 195, but it does smell and feel very hot after driving for a while. I am not sure if it is the fan motor or not. The A/C also is not blowing cool air and is fully charged. Any suggestions on what i should check? I have replaced the temperature sensor which did nothing.

In the under-hood fuse box check cooling fan fuse. if good need test light check for voltage on light blue wire at fan with A/C on voltage?

checked cooling fan fuse, it is good. Test only light blue wire coming off fan i could find and no glow from test light.

Air Conditioning problem
1999 Chevrolet Cavalier four cylinder front wheel drive automatic 180,000 miles.

I have to admit that I do not know the first thing about cars. But my question is my air conditioning just stopped working. You turn it on and nothing happens. It does not blow hot or cold air. Could it be the blower motor? My husband would like to fix himself, but we are not sure where to start. Please help!

Okay, so turning the fan speed knob does not blow on low med or high right? If so there is a blower motor resister in the duct work under the passenger dash. Here is a picture of the part (however the color may be different):

This part is common for your problem.

First check the fuse panel between the door and dash. Also under the hood, there is a relay and a 30 amp fuse and another fuse for the blower in there as well in the fuse panel beside the battery.

Air conditioning problem

My car makes a low rattling noise every time i turn on the air or the heat. The heater and air conditioning both will not work. The fan does not even blow air. What could be the problem?

Heater problem
1999 Chevrolet Cavalier four cylinder front wheel drive automatic 137,000 miles.

The blower fan quit working in first notch only would work in second and higher. then all of the sudden quit working all together it did not shut off slowly it just quit working. would it be a bad motor or switch or is there a relay module?

Check fuses, but I would suspect the switch on the dash as the problem. You can remove blower motor connector and apply twelve volts to motor to see if motor is problem, but I would suspect switch.

I have that problem once in two years. Blower resistor. First time I spent about an hour to replace it. Then only five minutes after I modified farther screw socket. Good luck. See attached picture:

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier four cylinder 20,000 miles.

Last week the AC fan quit working on levels 1 and 2 for any of the settings. Level 3 and 4 still work though. When on level 1 and 2, the faster I drive, the more quickly the AC will come out, and when I stop I can barely feel any air coming out of the vents.

What might be causing this problem?

Could be the blower motor resistor pack-its purpose is to control the blower motor speed, the higher the no. on the control switch the stronger the flow of a air.

The interior fan motor will not operate at any speed. I have checked fuses and circuit breakers. What is next to check?

if blower motor relay and fuses are good then next is to test the heater control panel to ensure the switches are working correctly.

The heater did not produce a lot of heat coming from the fan. And now the fan has stopped working altogether. Is the fan run on a fuse? Or is it something else?

you said it did not throw out a lot of heat? Was the fan running okay at that time before it stopped? at times heater fans can get something into them making it so they do not turn. There is a fuse for the heater.

My blower motor does not work. How do I remove the motor? Is this a serious or fairly simple instalation?

The blower motor and fan are serviced as an assembly only. Listed below are the removal/installation procedures for your vehicle. If you feel you are not experienced enough to do the job yourself, I suggest having a shop do it to prevent any damage to vehicle or injuries to self. Rrmoval: Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the passenger side sound insulator. Detach the electrical connections from the blower motor. Remove the blower motor retaining screws, then remove blower motor and fan assembly. Remove the sound insulator from underneath the passenger side of the instrument panel

Remove the retaining bolts for the blower motor assembly

Installation: Install blower motor and fan assembly, then secure using the retaining screws. If equipped, connect the blower motor cooling tube. Attach the electrical connections to the blower motor. Install the right side sound insulator. Connect the negative battery cable. Hope this helped. Thanks for using 2carpros.com!

This is one of the many problems with GM cars, down with GM with its car problems typical to cavalier.
if the motor works at max speed, then it is not the motor itself, it is, and i was told that there is a small piece of PCB hidden inside the console right next to the motor. and i learnt and removed it from the harness, replaced it by hi-wattage wire-wound resisters, and yet, they blown three times on all gangs (speeds) and finally all the speed selector contacts. 'cause the motor draws a lot of electricity current, and the design is bad! While hi-wattage wire-wound resistors cannot stand it, imagine how come the flimsy wires and printed foils on PCB can?
it is a badly car built with bad components!

Electrical problem
1993 Chevrolet Cavalier four cylinder two wheel drive automatic 80,000 miles.

Recently the fan went out but we tried to re wire to my shut off switch that have because the ignition switch went out. that is the purpose of the shut off switch being on there. it was on for awhile but stop working. Does the fan always come on when you start the car? Also, if fuse needs to be replaced were is it located how can i tell it is blown? Because my car overheats and all the fluids seem to be good and pump seems also to be working.

I have a Chevrolet Cavalier 1997 with 51,578 miles and it has a 2.2. The problem is the blower will only work on high and medium high it will not work on low and medium low. I installed a new blower that was not the problem. i replaced the heater and A/C switch on the cluster with the other knobs and that did not work either. what is my next step?

You need what we call a blower motor resistor.
It is located beside the blower motor and it has about five wires .

My fan blower for defrost and heater not working.

check and see if your fuses are okay. if they are okay, test for voltage at the blower motor it self. you can also try to tap on the motor with a screw driver and see if it will start up.
