The blower fan goes off and on, but mainly off. The compressor is working fine. Sometimes when accelerating from a stop, the belt squeals, but it is on tight.

Hi there, I am Danny.

Just a quick question. Do you mean the blower motor inside the car is shutting off/not blowing air through the vents inside the car?

Yes. It alternates between blowing and not blowing when the switch is turned on. The compressor is working fine and it is cold when it blows. Our just will not stay on and that is if it even comes on. I have also noticed that the belt well squeal. I took it to a mechanic who tightened the belt, and it worked for a couple of days after, but not long.

Hello, Danny here.
Another question. When it is working- on the switch do the different fan speeds work? Danny-

The blower works intermittently. I have noticed that it works more often at high speeds and will shut off while idling, but as with everything, that is not always the case. As for the difference if it is on high or low settings, I think it is better on high.

The A/C came on for a short while today and I checked if it was affected by which fan speed was selected. It was not. I am really hoping this is something simple to repair.

Hello, Danny again.

You might be having a problem with the blower motor resistor. It could be loose, melted/bad connection. I am attaching a test guide and component picture if you want to test. It is located on the bottom of the HVAC unit under the dash on passenger side. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions.
