So my blinkers will would work sometimes. so I changed the multi-function switch thought that was going to fix the problem, nope. I am not a mechanic but I feel like it is the wiring if it was a fuse it would it not work at all, right? Just do not know what to do. When I first put the new switch in would not work at all then I tried them while driving worked then they just quit working again. Please help!

I got it figured out it was the hazard switch the switch was bad after I already put in the new multi functioning switch and it did not work at first then it worked for a few and quit working. My dad is actually the one that got the idea of the hazard switch because it was not working either. So I put the new switch in and boom both work now.

When you manipulate the stalk to signal for a left turn, the dash indicator flashes, more rapidly than for a right turn. The rear signal works. I replaced the front turn lamp, but the problem persists. Can you assist? Thanks.

Relay is fine. Bypassed the relay and lights come on. I would like to know which wires to check or a wiring diagram to check the wires. Diagram would be preffered. Thank you

With the car in reverse at the neutral safety switch the yellow wire and the tan and white wire should both have less then 2 ohms to ground.Let me know what you find.

Just to make sure. The backup lights are also the signal lights right? Because the signal lights do not work. The relay I bypassed was for backup. Is there another relay at the rear for the signal lights? I havnt checked if the lights turn on when when backing up.

Tailight, brake light, and turn signal all on passenger side not working. not the bulbs, electrical?
I went to get my passenger side brakelight and tailight replaced and they showed me the electrical socket, I guess that's what it's called, and the slightest tap and the bulb went out again, so they said it was an electrical problem. I paid for a diagnostic test and waited. That's when I realized I did have my brakelight replaced not too long ago, and that it shoudn't have burnt out that fast, but I didn't make the connection until just then. They replaced my bulbs right then and a few wires they said were fried; but because they were about to close didn't have time to do more and I needed my car so I left. But they warned it could go out at any time. After a few weeks, my lights went out again. I called back and asked how much it would be to get this new 'socket' and what the installation cost and labor would be, but they are giving me the runarounds and not responding. Maybe they don't want to do the work or know they overcharged me for what they did do (I'm a woman, it happens to me a lot) - I don't know, I just got a ticket from the police and I just want to get this fixed. So do you know about how much it would be to repair this, parts and labor? Am I looking at about $100 to $200 or something more than $500? And does this sound like it's the electrical socket or something else? I know I'll have to go somewhere else and pay another $100 for a diagnostic test, but I just want to get a rough idea of what I can expect to pay so I can be somewhat prepared. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i'd think it should be less than 200 to fix this. when you say fried wires that is not good. i'd check around a few more shops if yo have htem in your area to see if they can look at it as well as fix it. prices can vary accross the u.s. I'd check the wires and ground on this if the socket is bad i'd replace that as well. But i'still think it cold be fixed for under 2 bills.I can't beleive that the harness is messed up that bad and the socket can't cost that much either.

this socket can be purchased at the parts store for under $10 with a light bulb.is it in the front or the rear? To replace the socket all you have to do is cut 3 .wires and then slice them back together and put the socket back in. This repair should be under $50.. Just go to the parts store buy a socket and bulb and then take it to the repair shop and say how much to put this on.if it's in the rear you may be able to do-it-yourself.you can get a tub of axle grease take the bulb smearing all around the bulb but not on the glass part. the last the thing is to just put it back in and reinstall the socketand see if it blows again

Thanks, it actually ended up being more of a problem than anticipated costing hundreds of dollars and on top of that my car stalled on my way to work and turns out I also was having ignition problems and a few other problems. I ended up trading it in for a new car, I just couldn't put not one more dollar in to repair that car. But thanks for all the feedback.

i would be checking for a damaged wiring for the turn signal affected or a bad rear bulb or wiring harness for the turn signal also, causing the feedback and fast flashing.

My turn signal(right front and back) isn't working. Turn signal(left front and back) are working. I tried to change the bulb(even tried to put the working bulb on the left side to the right) but still not working. The dashboard lights is good. When I hit the hazard switch, still the right front and back turn signal isn't working and again still left part is working. Emergency lights works on both sides. Can't figure it out.

Hello, the turn switch grounds the circuit for right and left turns. Dark green wire with white tracer shows to be the ground circuit for right turn. You can use a jumper as a test ground for the right turn signal, if the signal then works, the problem is in the wiring from the test point to the turn switch or the switch it self.

You might check for manufacturer specific codes, see if that shows anything.

the blinker is part of the hazard switch, see if it gives power in and out. so even if hazards work and turn signals do not then you have to replace the hazard switch.

I replaced the driver side turn signal bulb on the front of the car as well as the turn signal bulb on the back of the car. my issue is that the drivers side front turn signal bulb is clicking rapidly fast an the driver side turn signal bulb in the back is not flashing at all and they are both new bulbs. so I know it is not a bad bulb. any help would be appreciated thanks.

Most likely issue would be the circuit plate that the bulbs plug into. Either the contact(s) for the bulb have failed or the circuit inside that connects the lamp to the connector pin has failed. Then there is the actual connector that hooks the plate to the wiring in the car.

test the harness connector first. If it tests okay just replace the socket plate itself.

Get a simple test light.
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-test-light-circuit-tester

Unplug the harness connector. If you look at the connector there will be a black wire which is ground and a light blue with black stripe wire which is your turn signal. There will also be a brown wire which is the marker light. Take the test light and connect it to a good ground. Now turn on the headlights and touch the contact for the brown wire. The light should light up if you have a good ground. Now turn on the turn signal and touch the contact for the light blue with black wire. It should flash the light. If it does replace the circuit board assembly.

If it does not then you need to test that wire where it connects to the fuse panel at the right end of the dash. It may have broken in between. But I will bet it is the plate.

The dash light does not flash, only the clicking sound, more rapid than normal. The Malibu is a 2000. Is this caused by the rear turn signal lights being out, or are all four lights bad?

You're going to love this: the bulbs are okay. The turn signals are okay. The hazard light button sometimes doesn't completely turn loose when it is turned off, and that will cause the turn signals to do what mine were doing.
Remedy: press hazard lights botton on and then off. Presto! The turn signals work perfecly.
I'd love to claim it, but it was shown to me by the helpful man at Advance Auto.
Thanks for your time & have a great day. I'm signing off.

Hello 2carpros, my turn signals just started acting up. most of the time they don't work. Then the next minute all is fine. The hazards mostly don't work, they try to come on once. Then nothing. What could be wrong? Respectfully, David Strok

Actually most likely it is the hazard switch which has the flasher built into it. Check with the dealership on this one as it might be covered by a special recall.
