The defrost mode will not engage. It stays on the main vents. I can change the temperature for both sides of the truck. But will not go to the defrost vents at all. This is a 1500 crew cab.

Good afternoon,

I attached a picture for you to view. The actuator, which is a common failure, is under the dash that controls the mode door operation.

Well there it goes. Lol so anyways thank you for the information and photo. The dealer contacted me and said it’s a safety hazard. So there fixing it for free. But I’m sure all that information will help in the future and all the other people having similar problems.

I am looking for locations of the blend door actuator under the dash. I have changed both the ones on the floorboard area on the driver and passenger side.
I appreciate any help!

if you replaced on e on bottom and one on driver side that is for left hand side and mode- meaning direction. the right hand side is on top and normally requires dash to be pulled to access it.

My AC and heat only blow through my vents. I can control everything else but where it comes out of. Is that what needs to be replaced and if so where is it located?

If you have dual temperature controls there are two blend door actuators.

Replaced failed blend door motor. motor only operates in one direction and will not move again no matter where temperature control for left side is set. I may not have the proper initialization instructions. Left side blows cold air only, no warm air selection.

did you check to see if you could move the door freely before installing the new one to be sure there is not an obstruction??

Changed the blend door actuator below the glove box but I still get hot air on one side and cold air on the other. Not sure what the issue is.

Hi MCGML,

Do you have dual temperature zones? Meaning can you adjust the driver and passenger side to different temperatures? Also, which side is not correct for the temperature selected? When set to cold which blows hot?

I am assuming you have dual temperature zone because this would make the most sense. If so, you have two air temperature door actuators. One for each side.

Let me know and we can go from there. Thanks

need to know how to put the actuator and the piece behind it back on the vehicle. This is the actuator that opens and closes all the doors to route the air to floor, defrost, in your face, etc. replaced actuator but didn't get the other piece in correctly. only have air to defrost and in your face.
