Do you know what size wrench or belt tensioner attachment I need for that particular tensioner pulley? There's not a lot of room to get an actual socket wrench in there.

You need to use a wrench to turn the tensioner so the pulley moves in to loosen the belt as shown in the pictures. Then you need to remove the tensioner to get the belt free.

The wrench or socket you can use to release tension to remove and replace the Serpentine belt from the tensioner is 17mm. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Hi I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra SE with the 2.0L 4 cylinder and I'm trying to replace the serpentine belt as part of the 100K maintenance for the car. I know where the tensioner is and which way to rotate it but it refuses to budge. Any thoughts?

You can try using some penetrating oil on the center of the tensioner and then use a hammer to try to move it in both directions and free it. If the tensioner will not move the next step would be to remove the tensioner itself and replace it while replacing the belt. It doesn't move easily and depending on where you can put the wrench it can make it worse.

You will need to loosen the locking bolt (B) and turn (A) to relieve tension and readjust after belt replacement

Hi:
If you go to the drive belt routing diagrams, you will see how they are routed. Normally, the alternator, power steering, and AC are adjustable.

I replaced the battery in the car last week, and the alternatior was replaced in January. When the car reaches what appears to be normal operating temperature, the clock dims, the dashboard lights dim, and the speed of the power windows decreases. I have also noticed that the cooling fan is not operating properly. I also recently replaced the power steering belt, and the alternator belt appears to be in good shape, but there is still a belt that is squeeking.

I would start with readjusting the alternator belt. It may be loose causing the noise and problem with the electrical system.

As far as the fan, what is it doing?
