Is it necessary to reset/reprogram the BCM when you replace the airbags

And after an overheat how do you get the computer to get out of limp mode...I've already replaced the water pump on it

try disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes and see if that does anything for you.

you may need to erase the codes in the BCM. If it continues to set codes then there is still fault.

Thats usually how airbag circuits work. They function by causing shorts in the system. If you can pull the codes it should guide you in the right direction. If the airbags deployed and you replaced the airbags then if the car has pretensioners in the seatbelt(s). They pay have discharged as well and need replacing. Check codes first though.

It's kinda hard to describe so that it makes sense. You will have to visually see it in the car. The part that the seat belt connects to is usually about a 5-6 inch cable coming out of the pretensioner body. If it looks like it's pulled into the body then it has discharged. The codes will tell you if the pretensioner is short circuited.

It sounds like the BCM has had a problem could be from a voltage spike when the battery was connected.

You will need the BCM reprogrammed by a shop here is the location.

Please let us know what happens.
