BODY CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left instrument panel insulator.
3. Disconnect the BCM electrical connectors.
4. Push the BCM up and move the bottom of the BCM away from and out of the mounting bracket slot in order to remove the BCM.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Push the top of the BCM up into the mounting bracket in order to install the BCM. Then, while holding the BCM up, engage the bottom of the BCM into the mounting bracket slot.
2. Connect the BCM electrical connectors.
3. Install the left instrument panel insulator.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. Set up the new BCM. See: Vehicle > Programming and Relearning

ECM

Service of the powertrain control module (PCM) should normally consist of either replacement of the PCM or electrically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM) programming. If the diagnostic procedures call for PCM replacement, inspect the PCM first to see if the replacement is the correct part. If the PCM is faulty, remove the PCM and install the new service PCM.

The new service PCM will not be programmed. You must program the new PCM. DTC P0602 indicates the EEPROM is not programmed or has
malfunctioned.

NOTE:
Do not touch the connector pins or soldered components on the circuit board in order to prevent possible electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to the PCM.
Turn the ignition OFF when installing or removing the PCM connectors and disconnecting or reconnecting the power to the PCM (battery cable, PCM pigtail, PCM fuse, jumper cables, etc.) in order to prevent internal PCM damage.

Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner housing cover assembly.
3. Without disconnecting the PCM connectors, remove the PCM (4) and the harness from the air cleaner housing.
4. Disconnect the PCM connectors and remove the PCM from the connectors.

Installation Procedure

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the PCM to the connectors.

Tighten
Tighten the connectors to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

2. Install the PCM (4) and the harness into the air cleaner housing.

3. Install the air cleaner housing cover assembly.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. The new PCM must be programmed. Could I ask what the issue you are having is in regards to the wiring? A short or control issue?

So the car I’m working on is a demolition derby car. Just trying to build a simplified harness to eliminate all the wiring. I don’t need to run the car.
