In December I replaced the battery, alternator, and starter. today while driving my heater fan would speed up and slow down and then the van started making a weird whirring noise. Shortly after that my battery light came on. I am afraid it will not start when I leave work this evening. I am not sure if this is related but about once a week I have to wiggle to wire that connects the starter to the engine in order for the van to start. Any insight would be appreciated.

Wiggling the wire really sounds like a connection problem on one end of the cable or the other.

Heck, it might even be a nearby cable you are "accidentally" moving while you are fumbling with the other!

Sometimes you might go crazy wiggling/yanking/touching stuff and never know exactly which factor did the trick!

Depending on the cable, if the connection is lacking, you may not be getting fully charged by the alternator.

If you can sort of forcibly bare-handedly make a battery clamp or cable end twist/move/come off (on the other side from where it is "mashed" down. the connection is not tight.

You need to get in there and tighten the connections on both ends/replace anything on the connection that may be deteriorated (like a cracked clamp/or even replace the cable). If there is corrosion, clean it off completely.

Please go to and click on "repair guides" (top right of our pages).
Scroll down to "electrical" and look at these guides. Mainly the one's I have "X"ed

X Battery
Battery cable clean - everything goes out.
Battery charge.
Battery flat overnight.
Battery jump start.
Battery load test.
X Battery replacement.
Battery symptoms.

Return here with good news!
