Hi,

The charge light has been flashing intermittently for a while but today came on all the time. A friend of mine took the alternator off and got it checked by a specialist who said the alternator was good. So he refitted it but with a new set of drive belts but light is still on. One of the cables was broken (Light blue going to the main plug in the alternator) The cable was joined (twisted together) to see if this had been the problem but no. The car has been starting okay and the battery has a full charge in it.

I would appreciate some guidance as to the next step please?
Thanks,
Kevin

Repair that broken wire correctly, solder the joint and use a new terminal end, check the battery with a load test, check battery terminals for condition and tightness, check the alternator out put on the vehicle with a volt meter at the main terminal on the rear of the alternator with engine running and advise the reading for further advice.
