So I bought a new battery and a new alternator, but it still says on my obd2 reader that it has low voltage and the battery sign is on. I just got them both installed today.

Hi and welcome to 2CarPros. Can you give us the codes you got and tell us what brand alternator you used? Also what is the voltage output after you replaced the parts? Thank you and hope to hear back from you soon.

It’s a Duralast alternator and I was getting 12.99 volts. I couldn’t get the code to pop back up but the battery icon is still showing.

Then I recommend you do a voltage drop test with a digital volt meter. With the meter take the positive lead and touch the positive battery cable terminal. The ground lead touch the alternator positive terminal. Good cable will read somewhere around 0.2 volts more or less as long as it is under 1 volt. Do the same with the ground cable. Take the positive lead on the meter and touch the ground cable at the terminal lead at the cable and touch the alternator housing with the negative lead on the meter and you should measure the same. Please let us know what voltage measurements you get.
