Bad MPG

I cleaned the throttle plate, checked air filter, got the OEM NGK laser iridium plugs, and I still get poor mpg.

I checked the gap on the spark plugs many times with my round spark plug gap tool. Would this wear out the tip? Also, is it better to use a different brand plug or iridium ix instead?

There are several factors that affect mpg averages. I would start by having the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes and see what the fuel trims look like. Also, make sure it is going into closed loop operation and making sure the coolant temperature is correct and that the thermostat is not stuck open. Other things like tire pressure and excess weight in trunk, terrain I.e. hills, stop and go, driving habits, but it sounds like you are aware of those things. Hope this helps
