Back hatch wont open?

Despite being securely closed, the open hatch light remains on. I have attempted to clean the sensor contacts as best as possible but the light still remains on. any ideas as to how to fix this problem? Also, if I need to replace hatch contacts, do you have any DIY information for that work?

If I depress the handle there is no resistance, the window will open without problem. Is there a way to open the hatch from the inside.

It's like the door didn't shut properly, but I don't have any warning lights on.

I do not have the key for the hatch, to unlock I hit the unlock key from the inside.
