Hi,

Do you hear any noise coming from the door affected when you try to open it? Are all other windows working correctly?

To get you started, I attached the wiring schematic below of the power window circuit. If you let me know which window it is (left or right rear), I will be able to help more with testing.

Here is a link you may find helpful:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

We will need to check if power is available at the window motor. If there is, chances are the motor is bad. If there isn't, we need to check a few different things.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Note: I had to cut the schematic in half to make it readable. I did overlap them so you can follow from one to the next.

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me.,
It's the rear Hatch Glass that won't open when I press the button in.
Normally when I press the button the glass part opens. See photos, one is on the inside of the Explorer, other photo outside view.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Kenny

Do you hear a click or anything from the rear glass when you press the button? If not, is there anything other electrical not working?

If everything is working and you hear nothing, we need to check for power at the motor. See pic 1 below. If there is power, then we need to replace the actuator.

Let me know if anything other is affected.

Take care,

Joe

Hi, the lock will not release, that's the issue, there's a center post on the lock, one lever is on the right, the other one is on the back. Both lock down on the center post. I tried WD 40, but the lock did not budge.

Hi,

Okay, I thought there was an issue with the actuator. So the linkage is the problem or the latch assembly itself? Is it possible for you to take a few pics and upload them for me to see where you have the problem? Are you able to disconnect the linkage? There should be a retainer that clips to the linkage holding it. Unclip it and rotate the connector about a quarter turn and the retainer and linkage should come off.

I may be going in circles. If you could get me a couple of pics, that should help me. I hope you understand.

Let me know.

Kenny,

The directions I have are extremely vague. See pics 1 and 2 below.

Here is what I recall. Once the screws are removed, there will be several trim panel clips that hold the panel around the frame. See pic 3 below. They are very easy to break, so don't be surprised if they do. Also, they make a tool to remove them which you can get at any part store. See pic 4. It really helps prevent breaking them.

The only other thing I can recall (it's been a while). is where the window glass latch is located there should be a small cover that pops off. If I recall correctly, there is a screw under that cover.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Joe, don't see any screws under plastic cover, only one screw under cap and 2 screws under handle. Do these screws need to be removed?
See photos.

Hi,

Yes, those need to be removed as well. The screws go through the panel and attach to the door.

Let me know how you make out or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Joe. I removed the back panel as much as I could, the lock prevented me from removing the panel completely. The lock does not move no matter what I have tried. Putting a key in the lock, pushing in the button.
Any ideas? I have attached photos, and get you more pictures if needed.

Hi,

Is it possible for you to remove the two nuts I highlighted in the pic below? If so, remove them so we can open the glass and gain better access to the latch assembly.

If you could, take a pic of the inside from a little further back so I can see more of the area.

Let me know.

Joe

Joe,

I removed the two nuts and eventually got the glass to open.
Now the issue is the button still does not work, lock dont work and glass now stays open.
Any ideas?

Thank you, Kenny

Okay, now that you have it open, are you able to manipulate the mechanism to remove it from the latch? Also, send me a pic of just the latch you removed so I can see how it's attached and if there is a way to remove it. If it is locked in place and you can not even release it manually, the assembly must be damaged internally.

Joe,

Hi,

I'm able to take a closer look, the lock solenoid don't move, it needs to be replaced. Went to a Ford dealer, they no longer carry. How do I find the part number and where can I get a aftermarket part?

Thank you,
Kenny

Kenny,

Do me a favor. Take a look at this link and let me know if you see what is needed:

https://www.carid.com/ford-oe/ford-oe-lift-gate-glass-and-hardware-2460509695.html

Is it number 9 in the pic? I would think a company such as Dorman would have an aftermarket one. If they don't, you may need to find one in a salvage yard.

Let me know.

Joe
