B2290-EO Airbag light on

I attached the testing for this code if you would like to run through it and double check to make sure they didn't miss a wiring issue.

Assuming they are correct and it needs these sensors, then you will need to replace the rail assembly as it is one system.

However, paying the dealer to do it is not your only option. You can try to find a cheaper part and find if someone will do it for less then what the dealer is charging.

As for what will happen with the air bag. It is safe to drive but the passenger side air bag will not deploy if in an accident. I say it is safe only because nothing will happen to put you in danger but if it were me, I would want the system operating properly in the event there was an accident. So I would get it repaired one way or the other.

I didn't think to ask this before, but is there any way to short the sensor to thinking there is always a passenger?

Unfortunately there is not. This is a sensor based on resistance so shorting it will not tell the module the correct info to turn the light off. That only works on two wire switch style sensors. Meaning ones that are either open or closed. You can just jump those and close the circuit but these that is not possible. If you want it safe for the passenger then you need to repair the vehicle so that module knows the weight of the passenger. If they are too light it will turn the airbag off. If not then the airbag will deploy. Current state the module just thinks whoever is in the seat is too light so it turns the airbag off.
