Hi,

front driver side axle oil seal is leaking. It's leaking on the wheel rim. I would like to know the procedure for how to replace it and also the weight of gear oil I need to use.

Thank you

Okay, this is a job, the front differential needs to be removed and disassembled. The axle seals are internal and are one of the last parts to be removed when the differential is taken apart. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

I would search google for the tools.

Dana 30 (most common for the Cherokee):

Oval-shaped cover.
10 bolt holes.
Axle tube diameter: -2.5 inches.
Dana 44 (less common):

Hexagonal cover.
10 bolt holes.
Larger axle tubes (-3 inches in diameter).
Other Differentials (unlikely for a stock Cherokee):

Chrysler 8.25: Often found in the rear axle, but not typically in the front.

Let us know if you need anything else.
