Automatic Trunk release stopped functioning

Neither the indash or key fob buttons will pop open the trunk. They both worked previously. When I stand at the back of vehicle with trunk open and press the key fob button I can hear a faint single click noise coming from inside trunk from the area around the fuse box

You could have a broken wire on the wire loom going to the trunk lid.you would have to see what your missing to the trunk release actuator.While pressing the button ground or power.
