Automatic transmission problem

Hi, I recently purchased this car which already had some minor problems with the gears which gradually became more...after filling the almost empty transmission fluid I found that the oil seal on the drive shaft was gone and losing all the transmission fluid from their .I'm waiting for the seal at the moment ..the transmission shudders in drive and first gear ..and I use second to take off .when cold it jumps with a cluck sound into drive and goes okay when warm I take off with second and no problem with 3 and 4 gear up or down .it only takes 20 meters for second gear to lock in but after that everything is okay sometimes the automatic gear fault goes on .and when it is a hot day in traffic my engine goes very week as if it's working with 3 pistons ..I have not taking it to mechanic yet to see computer .and was thinking of changing solenoids. also do you think it is too late to fix it ?? Or can the problems be fixed ?? Please help me.

This does not sound like it is too late to repair. This sounds like it is low on fluid. If you are losing a good amount of fluid through that seal, I would get it replaced ad then get it to operating temp and check the fluid with it running. Fill to proper level.

If the fluid is low then all these issues can happen. So we need to make sure that is correct before proceeding.

Thank you for replying! What is the correct amount of automatic transmission fluid since there is no dip stick? So far I found out that if I empty the fluid from the drain plug it needs four and a half liters and from totally empty it needs six liters. is this correct? Also, I want to add that in the morning if I take off with drive it will shader a little in first and all goes normal until it warms up and then if I use manual all is okay until it gets too hot in traffic then it goes to third gear automatically..

We don't have a manual on this vehicle so I don't have an exact spec on it.

However, the way to check this is your drain plug should have two parts. The outside hex is the drain plug but there should be an inside hex that if you remove it then this is where you fill the transmission from. So you get the transmission to operating temp and then remove the inside hex. If no fluid comes out then you need to squirt some up into the hole until it runs out of this hole. So once it starts running out and it stops then the trans is at the proper level.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense and I can try to get more detail.

Hi, as far as i have seen, yes there are two drain plugs at the same place .and when I changed the oil I only unscrewed the inner one which is a normal bolt .but to refill the transmission there is an other plug on top of the transmission with a square inlet for the tool to unscrew it and was not at all tight .I put 4 and a half liters of fluid in their while about only half a liter came out from the bottom plug witch was black as well .I also measured from top outside the transmission until the level of fluid was and the clear distance was 8 centimeters .just to keep for the record ....

Thank you for the update. I was not aware of the fill plug but that makes sense. Sounds like you it straightened out. Hopefully that cures all your issues.

Hi again. it did not straight out anything yet because I'm still waiting for my drive axle oil seal. I was just explaining where the transmission fills up from. anyway my friend when the oil seal comes and I fill the transmission up I will see how it will go. do you advise me to do a computer update after I finish?

If your only issues are fluid related with the transmission then you do not need to do a computer update. It should still function just fine. however, if you have the ability to do it then it will not hurt.
