Engine problem

I have a 1989 audi 90 5-cyl engine. It idles kind of rough. When I give it a little gas it runs ok. After it runs for a while It shuts off and will not start untill after it sits for a while. When I turn it over everything sounds normal but Its like its not getting gas or its not getting spark but its not firing. I replaced the fuel filter and the pump seems to be ok.
