Since it works intermitantly, i was guessing i might not be the flasher relay issue. Normally a relay does not work intermitantly. Its either works or dont work.I adjusted dashboard backlight was to be brighter and now i dont have the problem anymore. It might be that the relay need more voltage to drive it or it might be a co-incident but its working now. But if it happens again, will take your advice to change the flasher relay. Thanks!

Hi sukhpal,

Flasher relays do work halfway and then stop and that is when the relay coils are failing.

If you adjusted the back lights to a brighter position, it should be draining more voltage from the relay if it is related. Maybe you can test if it happens again by readjusting back to previous to see if it happens. It could be related or coincidence.

Mabe you should check the grounding point for the relay. It is located at the lower left A pillar.

Hi sukhpal,

The lower left A pillar is the front left lower pillar, usually called the kiick panel.

Flasher relay is intergral with the emergency flasher switch, so means it is inside the hazard switch.

Hazard switch w/intergral turn/hazard flasher = $ 31.47

I made the dashboard light dimmer and the problem seem to appear again. I will check the switch if there is any grounding issue or need replacement. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

i just bought the hazard switch integrated with indicator relay for Audi A6 year 2000 model. This is to solve the indicator problem which is very common with Audi cars. But the problem is, i not able to replace it myself. I open up the plastic cover but there no way i can remove the relay. The relay switch is in between of plastic cup holder and little coin compartment.

Could anyone advice how can i replace this? Other websites only mention how to replace it on other audi models but not 2000 audi A6 model.
