AUDI 2001 2.8L Engine

Well those engines have a high oil consuption (some of them are even worse) don`t worry about it just be carefull on the oil level and the schedule maintenance.

1qt. in 3K miles would be within what the manufacturer considers normal. Having said that I feel your concern and when I tell my BMW customers that BMW considers 1.5qts in 1000 miles normal, I am greeted with less than a happy customer. I might suggest switching to a heavier viscosity lubricant and/or a different brand and see if that helps.
