I would like to know the causes to which this would occur, and pricing from least to worst case scenario, in order to repair.

Hi there,
This may be a case of low refrigerant, this is the most common cause of this problem, you may have a minor leak from a seal, but this will have to be investigated first, it may be a simple fix or very involved this is unknown until the cause is found, go get a system leak check done first.
