what does the EPC light mean on my dash is staying on while driving

I believe it is an acronym for Electronic Powertrain Control.
It serves the same basic function as the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or "Check Engine" light.
You'll need to have it scanned with a diagnostic tool to find the specific fault.
