Hi , Just purchased a 1999 Audi a4 with 72000 miles, and while i was driving the other day, with the car being all warmed and driving for quite sometime, the temperature gauge dropped alll the way to cold, and stayed there for alittle and then went half way, which is normal. Now Im asking is this the thermostat? It only happened once or twice, DO you think if i changed the antifreeze it would help, or do i need to change the thermosat, And also if i do, how easy is it to change, for myself to do, or how much does it cost to get it replaced on average, Thanks for your help

I am currently replacing a coolant flange on this Audi but I'm having trouble taking off the hose from the coolant flange to the heater core, when attempting to remove the stubborn hose, I notice a slit in it. I am wondering if anyone has any tips or procedures to servicing this hose.

Thanks, Kevin
