1998 Audi A4 Engine Misfire Cylinder 1

Engine Performance problem
1998 Audi A4 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 200K miles

At wits end, hope you can help- Check engine light flashing. Dx gauge shows engine misfire cylinder 1, I think it was code P0301. Changed spark plugs, swapped 1 and 3 injector, ran compression tests, changed fuel pump, same code comes up, same cylinder misfiring. Any suggestions as to where to go next?

Hi there,

Check the injection pulse, check the firing voltage on an oscilloscope and check for any vacuum leaks around No1 cylinder linlet manifold, start here.

You never mentioned anything about swapping coils. Not sure what motor you have in this thing. This car might have a power stage for coil control. See if you have a pulse from it. HTH
