My Audi will not go into gear and now it smells like something is burning. A mechanic told me it was a clutch problem but wouldn't work on it. I have to take it somewhere else how much should it cost.?

Symptoms do indicate a fault/worn clutch and most non Audi trained people would be reluctant to do the job as it is not easy to perform.

The book time for clutch replacement is 7 hours with additional time to be added if the flywheel and/or oil seals etc to be removed/replaced.

A rebuilt clutch pressure plate is listed at $195.00.
Clutch bearing = $ 71.00.
