After replacing the Turbocharger, Engine Reduced Power and Code p06DE?

On 1/24/23 the throttle body was replaced, brakes serviced, turbocharger replaced, and turbocharger was checked.
On 3/28/23 the valve cover gasket was replaced, valve cover was replaced, oil pressure sender/switch replaced, spark plugs replaced, and brakes were serviced.
Now the check engine is on, and engine power reduced and code p06DE is coming up and the mechanic that’s been working on the car has no idea what it could be?? I never had any problems with this car until after they replaced the turbocharger in it and ever since then it’s been one thing after another. Is this something that they could have done or just bad luck?

Hi,

The code is specific to the engine oil pressure solenoid. The engine oil pressure control solenoid in low pressure for greater than 1.5 s.

Has anything been mentioned about this solenoid? Also, when they replaced the turbo, it is possible that things were damaged or disconnected.

Let me know. Also, let me know if there are any noises coming from the engine when running or does it run?

Yes, they mentioned the solenoid but said there were metal shavings in the oil pan and that was what was causing the issue. The car was driving and making no noises, I didn’t have any issues with it whatsoever until after the turbo got changed. I’ve paid just right at 4,000 to the shop working on it in just the last 5 months. Now they are wanting to charge me $225 just to put the oil pan back on it and to put oil in it that they drained out and the oil I bought that was in the truck of the car is what they are going to use to put back in the car.

Hi,

If there are metal shavings in the oil pan, that is a big concern. Was the oil pressure light staying on? The turbocharger is connected to the engine oiling system by a supply and drainpipe. I'm wondering if something happened with that when it was put together. Did they mention how much metal was in the pan?

The oil pressure light was and has not been on at any time. Below is a picture of the shavings in the bottom of the oil pan.

Hi,

That doesn't look too promising. Have they inspected the engine oil pressure solenoid? Also, how did the original turbo fail? In other words, did a bearing fail?
