Daughter was going to work the other day and car shut off. She put it in park to see if it would start back up and would not turn over just like a dead battery and would not come out of park. Had it towed and the driver had to crawl under the car and take it out of park. I have tried just about everything to try to reset the anti-theft system/pass-lock. I have used both keys and key-fobs that came with the vehicle and am very stumped now.

Hi,

That doesn't sound like an anti-theft problem. Does anything electrical work?

Let me know.

Hi,

I need you to check three fuses. In addition to checking the fuse condition, confirm there is power to them. Here is a link to help with that:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

See pics below for fuse identification and location. I highlighted the ones to check in the under hood fuse box.

Let me know.

Hi,

Fuse 17 is the crank fuse. It should have power when the key is in the start position. You will need a helper. Or, have you already checked it that way?

I want to thank you guys for the help. After doing what you guys have posted and nothing was working. I was doing some more checking and come to find out it was it was the ignition switch. It's weird how a part like the ignition switch can act so much like something else and be so much of a pain in the rear. thanks again for the help.

Good evening. I am having a similar issue with my 2006 trailblazer. I was driving and the engine died. I tried to restart it but nothing. I did however notice that my key chime isn't making noise, so I wonder if that has anything to do with my issue. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi,

Are you sure the battery is charged? If the alternator wasn't charging, driving would drain the battery.

Do me a favor. Try this little test at home:

Let me know.

Also, there is no chime noise with the key turned forward. Not sure if that is relevant.

Hi,

I suspect it is a very similar issue to the original post. I need you to do me a favor. I need you to start a new thread. We try to keep the threads specific to one type of vehicle. In this case, you are a year newer.

We do this so it is more helpful to others. I truly hope you understand. Simply copy and paste the posts you have already made to this link, and someone will be happy to jump on it for you.

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/new

Again, I hope you understand and know I appreciate your doing this.

Take care,

Joe
