cylinder head has been left to atmosphere for many years

first what is wrong with old head on engine many times they are rebuild able? second what year is the other cylinder head that you bought? get back to us to see what if any differences there are.

1. Right, the old head could be rebuilt but must be spend more budget to modify
1.1 All spark plug thread.
1.2 All valve seat and new valve set.
If I can use the used cylinder head save my time and money a lot.
2. I am not sure what year the cylinder that I bought but shown in jeep manual 1972.

actually when you get a head rebuilt you only get the seats replaced not valves unless they are bad and seals. if yours is a 1973 and new one is a 1972 there should be no problem unless it is for a 258 engine. have you tried switching rockers and push rods for current engine or is one a rocker arm and other is rocker shaft. or try using newer push rods for newer head otherwise you need to get another head anyhow so get yours fixed. spark plug threads should be okay. just maybe need to be chased with a plug tool .

What is AMC 232 OR 258 ? I got AMC Hi-torque from junk that installed in Jeep Wagoneer. I think this engine was AMC 232 because it has sticker on valve cover ,shown in pic #1and#2 .
Rocker (pic #3and#4 .)and push rod (pic #5and #6 .)could not switching ,it is different type.
Note: AMC 232(CJ6)'s push rod are bigger , longer with hole all the way down.
If it was the same series (AMC 232) I can switch hi-torque cylinder set to my old one. What about push rod which one should be use?

which head to use is up to you use the pushrods that fit is the only thing I can advise. if the one set of pushrods are to long then you will need to use NEW lifters that fit that cylinder head to try to make the difference up. you cannot use a rocker arm set up on a single rocker set up. you could try the shorter pushrods, but then there is an oil hole for rocker arms through the head that may not be on other try to have a local mechanic look at this to sort it out or if an engine rebuilder near check with them as they may know already

Dear sir,
I had decided to use Hi-Torque Head to install on my old AMC 232. After all parts has been checked I found a new problem about rocker arm lubricating oil path ,old engine- no lube path from cylinder jacket flow through the cylinder head to lubricate rocker arms shaft.Finally ,I could not switch cylinder head only valve set will do. Do you have any idea ?

check into a head rebuild you don't need valves if they are not bad, only exhaust seats which I said in second reply I think I figured that the rocker arm set up would not work as I said in last reply. check with a machine shop or auto parts for head work.
